Mazedia present at the Microsoft MIX10 in Las Vegas

From the 15th to the 17th of March, Mazedia had the pleasure of being invited by Microsoft, in Las Vegas, to take part in its annual webdesign and development show : the MIX1. Why our agency ?

Microsoft and Mazedia collaborate closely on the project of a multitouch and multi-user application integrated with networked surface tables. For your information, this project will be visible at the Cité des Sciences from April 20th, at the exhibition “Contrefaçon : la vraie expo qui parle du faux” (“the real exhibition which talks about wrong”), on Microsoft area. We will talk soon about this unique project.

MIX10 : what is it ?

The MIX10 is first of all, 3 intense days of presentations, conferences, demonstrations taking place in a prestigious hotel : the Mandalay Bay (34 floors and 24 restaurants!). The MIX10 is composed of many sessions covering a wide spectrum of the last evolutions on development and design methods, user experience and of course the recent innovations of the company that created Windows.

On the occasion of 2 keynotes (= strategic conferences), different major names of Microsoft intervened to announce and introduce in details the main novelties for 2010 : and 2010 is an excellent year. The evolutions of the software giant’s solutions are up to expectations, in the current effervescence of the multimedia world (HTML5 arrival, multiplication of mobile solutions, windows 7 and the multitouch…).

A look back on the highlights :

  • Launch of the Silverlight version 4 : this multimedia solution of Microsoft on the web has known a huge success this last month, through sports event retransmission, job mobile applications…
  • Introduction of the new Windows phone 7 (launched during the Mobile Word Congress in Barcelona). This mobile operating system is presented on the zune phone.
  • Launch of the preview version of the Internet Explorer 9 : we expect a lot from this new version of the browser, the keynote has enabled us to learn a lot more about the outstanding innovations it offers.
  • Intervention of the charismatic Bill Buxton (head of Microsoft Research). The speech conducted about NUI (Natural User Interface) provides a better understanding of user experience, now the number one objective of new Microsoft Applications.

The different specific session also provided an opportunity to discover Microsoft’s latest work in detail and reinforced the general impression of the new strategic direction taken by the IT giant : the success of the new solution is guaranteed by the constant concern for the user experience.
