The future of cultural multimedia mediation is taking shape in Philadelphia. We were present, among 6 french people out of 600 participants. The major technological trends which will guide cultural transmission in the coming years :

  • Mobile everywhere for everyone : This is undoubtedly the groundswell. Most cultural establishments are relying on mobile to help visitors better understand the works, historical content and sciences. Apple is omnipresent, as everywhere, and the Ipad is very present for education.
  • Social medias right down to the tour routes : a major trend 2.0 for mobile tours. Some mobile applications are entirely based on the visitors contributions. Pictures, commented audio and texts, the visit begin with some maps on Google Maps on the internet, the choice of places and the mobile retrieves the data and offers visits rich in content, but for which we may question the scientific rigor.
  • Multimodality : major museums are beginning to unify their contribution and distribute it on the web, mobile, social medias et even the print publications. A new way to conceiving and distributing knowledge that requires a perfectly organized change management.
